On the afternoon of 10 October 2024, the signing ceremony of the Instrument of Accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in southeast Asia (TAC) by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg was held in the presence of ASEAN Foreign Ministers and Foreign Minister of Timor-Leste; Secretary-General of ASEAN and ASEAN delegates at the National Convention Centre, Vientiane. The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg was represented by H.E. Xavier Bettel, Vice Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of Grand Duchy Luxembourg.

      On this auspicious occasion, H.E. Saleumxay KOMMASITH, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR expresses his congratulations and welcomes Luxembourg’s accession to the TAC, which brings the High Contracting Parties to the TAC to 55 and underscored that Luxembourg’s accession to the TAC demonstrates the recognition of ASEAN’s fundamental principles as well as Luxembourg’s strong commitment to establish relations and cooperation with ASEAN to contribute to maintenance and promotion of peace, stability and cooperation for development in the region.

In this regard, H.E. Xavier Bettel, Vice Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of Grand Duchy Luxembourg reaffirmed the readiness of Luxembourg to cooperate with ASEAN as well as to strengthen relations with individual Member State of ASEAN.
